Residential Treatment and Assessment

Misión Zoé provides multidisciplinary residential treatment for substance dependence and addictive behaviors, including gambling. Residential stays usually last four to six months, depending on individual needs.

An initial psychological and addiction-counseling evaluation informs an individualized treatment plan and personal objectives. The residential program follows the detoxification phase.

The first stage focuses on stabilization, awareness and the psychological and counseling plans. The second develops emotional management, assertive communication and life skills. The third works on relapse prevention, support networks and a life plan.

Therapy and Recovery Skills

Individual psychological therapy takes place once or more times a week, alongside individual addiction counseling and personalized psychology or counseling assignments.

Daily group therapy covers substance use, introduction to the 12 steps, self-esteem, resilience, problem-solving, family patterns and relationships. Assertiveness, communication, emotional regulation, cognitive distortions and emotional intelligence are also addressed.

Further group topics include relapse prevention, social and family reintegration, and character patterns. The approach combines work on symptoms, unhelpful thinking, interpersonal conflicts, family problems and intrapersonal conflicts.

Residents practice the 12-step programs of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, attend mutual-help groups and participate in a 12-step reading workshop.

Individual work includes an economic and administrative plan, personal values, respect for oneself and others, and balancing activities with rest.

Daily Life and Recreation

The daily routine includes morning reflection, therapy or counseling, mutual-help meetings and three meals a day. Meditation and exercise complement the therapeutic schedule.

Gym exercise is scheduled five days a week. Recreational options include soccer, basketball, table tennis, chess and cinema-based reflection.

An onsite gym provides exercise equipment for physical and recreational activity.

Team and Professional Roles

Enrique Perez directs Misión Zoé, with Federico Pampin coordinating operations. Psychologists, psychotherapists and specialist addiction counselors make up the multidisciplinary team.

The psychology team includes Enrique Corral, Zulma Valdez, Grecia Córdova, Ismael Cosio, Gabriel Garcia, Alejandra Damaris and Francisco Ariza. Oscar Garcia, Jaime Manzanero and Elias Amezcua are specialist addiction counselors.

The treatment model works in collaboration with doctors, psychologists and psychiatrists.

Halfway House and Continued Support

The halfway house is a separate transitional option for people who have completed a primary treatment program and need a structured environment for the next stage of recovery. Willingness to participate is required for this transition.

Participants receive at least four hours of treatment a day through meditation, reflection, mutual-support meetings, psychological sessions and addiction counseling.

Outside treatment hours, participants may work, study or volunteer. Gradual community activity can include outside self-help groups, family visits, gym exercise, cinema and other recreation.

The halfway-house model combines psychology, counseling, psychiatry and the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Its focus includes social and family reintegration, routines, responsibility and practical independent-living skills.
